So, except for the specialty cut around Compass Rose Dragon, I framed them the same.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ov7Ur6mAUBw/V8MjUS_CDvI/AAAAAAAAKvE/6LQ3w6gHVe0HRecY2ge4T1r61Y6rAa_6ACPcB/s1600/Here%2BBe%2BDragons%2B07.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="283" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ov7Ur6mAUBw/V8MjUS_CDvI/AAAAAAAAKvE/6LQ3w6gHVe0HRecY2ge4T1r61Y6rAa_6ACPcB/s320/Here%2BBe%2BDragons%2B07.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And that's all I have for this post. Much shorter than Compass Rose Dragon.Dylimeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03972706726542415581noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4159930323405591562.post-79032397513118309022016-08-28T10:56:00.004-07:002016-08-28T10:56:52.058-07:00Compass Rose Dragon: Fourth Post - FramedSo this will be a little bit longer than a single picture with a framed piece. As most of you know, I worked in framing and many people I framed for don't know about a simple option, so I'm going to show you really quickly.<br />
<br />
Most people know when you frame and mat items there's a white 45° bevel on the edge of the mats. But what most people don't know, is you can make it so the white doesn't show, it's called a reverse bevel.<br />
<br />
On this piece I wanted a reverse bevel on my mats, however, the chop shop didn't cut them correctly so I have the two different options to show side by side:<br />
<table align="center"><tbody>
<tr><td><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ovWiGLqF-HU/VqvV9SPCh6I/AAAAAAAAIuw/MvIFdmLSl58/s1600/Compass%2BRose%2BDragon%2B08.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ovWiGLqF-HU/VqvV9SPCh6I/AAAAAAAAIuw/MvIFdmLSl58/s320/Compass%2BRose%2BDragon%2B08.jpg" width="270" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Regular Bevel</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
</td><td><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAglASFKUb1Yzpmn9YeYO7B8BxpYfaQwYwsUMY0JQi8pzd8RpR3z7P6Ldsen8F5LpzZ_FcF-qztJ61iyWGXJyLAMO4W1C7DpZ5B02kujo7ukn9qzGTdhlNmFWkibvIGNPOjTPGAtQbzog0/s1600/Compass+Rose+Dragon+09.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAglASFKUb1Yzpmn9YeYO7B8BxpYfaQwYwsUMY0JQi8pzd8RpR3z7P6Ldsen8F5LpzZ_FcF-qztJ61iyWGXJyLAMO4W1C7DpZ5B02kujo7ukn9qzGTdhlNmFWkibvIGNPOjTPGAtQbzog0/s320/Compass+Rose+Dragon+09.jpg" width="272" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Reverse Bevel</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I thought the white from the bevel was too bright with this piece, I thought it looked much better without it. Especially since the mat colors are so dark. You can't even tell the middle mat is green on the first picture, or, at least, I can't.<br />
<br />
And finally it's all put together with the frame:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-j7zqocOT7BI/V8MjUSU3HCI/AAAAAAAAKuw/beBwioHrxOMP1VBI70cxQGmX7YVZlT5iQCPcB/s1600/Compass%2BRose%2BDragon%2B10.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-j7zqocOT7BI/V8MjUSU3HCI/AAAAAAAAKuw/beBwioHrxOMP1VBI70cxQGmX7YVZlT5iQCPcB/s400/Compass%2BRose%2BDragon%2B10.jpg" width="338" /></a></div>
<br />
And that's it from me this post. I have actually been working on stuff, I just haven't gotten far enough to actually post anything on them.Dylimeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03972706726542415581noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4159930323405591562.post-61491761974869058332016-08-20T22:59:00.000-07:002016-08-20T22:59:46.475-07:00Seashell Treasures: Second Post - FramedI framed my mother's seashells at the same time as Kellan's name. So I have that one to share with you today.<br />
<br />
This really isn't that great of a picture.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5cw5Oo-kkzY/V6kpUHqjulI/AAAAAAAAKiY/1sH2ApkZJcMdy40wtkgNUJu5P7so1CxowCPcB/s1600/Seashell%2BTreasures%2B5.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5cw5Oo-kkzY/V6kpUHqjulI/AAAAAAAAKiY/1sH2ApkZJcMdy40wtkgNUJu5P7so1CxowCPcB/s400/Seashell%2BTreasures%2B5.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The top mat is kind of an off white shiny looking mat. The next one is a dark burgundy, and the bottom is a lightish pink, probably the one closest to its true color.<br />
<br />
I decided to take a picture of where it's hanging.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiW4ypkcmYEUqD3VGc0bPsnMbeP_41fpj_zurWgYO-lnFjYWe4ZY6G45dE3y_ROsneKLUgySkQc_YSzkctDQfhK77Xh-eY3GA5TE9uoP6oFgoJbmnA2TPHKgIfpB9KMiK25KdOdxt_bYkb2/s1600/Seashell+Treasures+6.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="317" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiW4ypkcmYEUqD3VGc0bPsnMbeP_41fpj_zurWgYO-lnFjYWe4ZY6G45dE3y_ROsneKLUgySkQc_YSzkctDQfhK77Xh-eY3GA5TE9uoP6oFgoJbmnA2TPHKgIfpB9KMiK25KdOdxt_bYkb2/s320/Seashell+Treasures+6.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
The top mat looks closer to color in this picture. But I just figured the mahogany frame would make more sense in context.Dylimeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03972706726542415581noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4159930323405591562.post-28611588001916704062016-08-16T16:46:00.001-07:002016-08-16T16:46:54.938-07:00Train Kellan: Second Post - FramedThis is going to be short and sweet today... Or probably just short.<br />
<br />
So here's the framed version of Kellan's Train themed name:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lxpNq_2V_H8/V6kpF_8sU4I/AAAAAAAAKiY/MDbtkvhHxLITmRs4oGeGd08vie5RqcEIQCPcB/s1600/Train%2BKellan%2B18.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="387" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lxpNq_2V_H8/V6kpF_8sU4I/AAAAAAAAKiY/MDbtkvhHxLITmRs4oGeGd08vie5RqcEIQCPcB/s640/Train%2BKellan%2B18.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
We just framed it exactly the same way as we had framed <a href="http://dylimes.blogspot.com/2013/12/firefighter-logan-fourth-post-framed.html">Logan's</a>. Everything's the same, the size, the mat colors, the mat widths, and the frame. So nothing really exciting here. Now just to wait for November for him to open it on his birthday.Dylimeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03972706726542415581noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4159930323405591562.post-78079728557312262792016-08-09T17:37:00.000-07:002016-08-28T10:48:42.514-07:00Punch of Color Girls 4: First Post<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3w1VcRV54vM/V6k1XHiNg0I/AAAAAAAAKls/denkgmDpqP8mIGX9pNLi79do64Ds5Nf0wCPcB/s1600/Punch%2Bof%2BColor%2BGirls%2B4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3w1VcRV54vM/V6k1XHiNg0I/AAAAAAAAKls/denkgmDpqP8mIGX9pNLi79do64Ds5Nf0wCPcB/s200/Punch%2Bof%2BColor%2BGirls%2B4.jpg" width="160" /></a>I had mentioned this picture on my blog, a long time ago. I honestly don't know when. I had liked Hannah Lynn's designs, her choice of bold, bright colors against the stark black outline. I had wanted to work on one, but none appealed to me enough to actually take the time to stitch it. Until I found this one, Punch of Color Girls 4.<br />
<br />
She's a little bit like me, a tomboy. It looks like she's wearing overalls, like a boy, and looks like she has just about the same amount of paint on her as she does on whatever she was painting and doesn't seem to bothered at all. However, she's still girly, which I find myself being from time to time.<br />
<br />
I actually started her a while back, November of last year. I decided I was going to do her all at once, extreme cross country, pretty much the opposite of what I did on my last post. So I started with all the black and just started stitching...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-gC1Pj1p7iRA/V6kzB6bERtI/AAAAAAAAKks/clCl6d8G57YXHnXhkuNe7PFHpOuysN-LQCPcB/s1600/Punch%2Bof%2BColor%2BGirls%2B4-001.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-gC1Pj1p7iRA/V6kzB6bERtI/AAAAAAAAKks/clCl6d8G57YXHnXhkuNe7PFHpOuysN-LQCPcB/s1600/Punch%2Bof%2BColor%2BGirls%2B4-001.jpg" /></a></div>

There she is! I did most of the bottom right hand corner after I finished page 2 of Planet Dragons. I thought I had taken a picture just after I'd finished her eye which is where she actually sat for quite a while, but apparently I hadn't, so there's a big jump between the last two pictures.<br />
<br />
I'm thinking I'm going to do the white next, which is over 20,000 stitches. You might not see her again for a while.<br />

So here's how it went:<br />
<br />
My first picture, showing the fabric before the challenge, you've already seen this, pretty much, in my previous blog.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-m-Q0Prh70j0/V6kk3pBGHvI/AAAAAAAAKgQ/pJ76hAiBYFc3bP-LNAhff4W5wTsEQ95ogCPcB/s1600/Planet%2BDragons%2B009%2BPg%2B02%2B-%2B01.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="216" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-m-Q0Prh70j0/V6kk3pBGHvI/AAAAAAAAKgQ/pJ76hAiBYFc3bP-LNAhff4W5wTsEQ95ogCPcB/s320/Planet%2BDragons%2B009%2BPg%2B02%2B-%2B01.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
We were allowed to do the whole 10 stitch row at a time, which made me happy since I'm pretty paranoid about the 10x10 squares becoming visible when I stitch, one of the reasons why I preferred cross country stitching. I use a hoop and decided to keep my threads on the needle since I figured re-threading could cause more damage to the thread. I immediately made a mess.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-q0gR5ApbtrA/V6kk3vyt6BI/AAAAAAAAKgU/PkkZpAxHwtE0iU3vBC1ZHtJ0iXXsGzAVQCPcB/s1600/Planet%2BDragons%2B010%2BPg%2B02%2B-%2B02.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-q0gR5ApbtrA/V6kk3vyt6BI/AAAAAAAAKgU/PkkZpAxHwtE0iU3vBC1ZHtJ0iXXsGzAVQCPcB/s320/Planet%2BDragons%2B010%2BPg%2B02%2B-%2B02.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
By the time the whole row was done, I'd made an even bigger mess.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pcl6uD9au4o/V6kk3p05PtI/AAAAAAAAKgQ/AD29GCK1YJERIneKc7A_cMkpDUW0vywywCPcB/s1600/Planet%2BDragons%2B011%2BPg%2B02%2B-%2B03.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pcl6uD9au4o/V6kk3p05PtI/AAAAAAAAKgQ/AD29GCK1YJERIneKc7A_cMkpDUW0vywywCPcB/s320/Planet%2BDragons%2B011%2BPg%2B02%2B-%2B03.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
But I told myself I would do this and maybe see if I began to like it the more I stitched.<br />
<br />
So here I am at the halfway point. By this point I've realized two things, one, it's not very easy to park with a hoop, I couldn't really extract my hoop from this project to work on anything else if I wanted to, and I like to take my hoop off each night after stitching. This picture shows the one time I did completely remove the hoop. And the second thing I'd realized is I <i>REALLY</i> don't like parking.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FkMwpXJbIsI/V6kk3uTEshI/AAAAAAAAKgQ/wHj9eiKJa0UPrnRGFHrb6Ajey0Nd1XNCQCPcB/s1600/Planet%2BDragons%2B012%2BPg%2B02%2B-%2B04.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="260" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FkMwpXJbIsI/V6kk3uTEshI/AAAAAAAAKgQ/wHj9eiKJa0UPrnRGFHrb6Ajey0Nd1XNCQCPcB/s320/Planet%2BDragons%2B012%2BPg%2B02%2B-%2B04.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
The hanging threads are constantly in my way. Either they're trying to get trapped under the threads I'm stitching or they're hanging down right where I'm trying to stitch. I've seen many parkers with multiple needle minders to keep things organized, however I own absolutely no needle minders.<br />
<br />
I was having one heck of a time trying to get this done and stay motivated to work on it, but with the hoop trapped on the piece I could either take 20 minutes extracting and reattaching it, or just finish the thing. I can't explain how happy I was to get to this last row, when I could finally put the ends of the threads where they belong.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwu9mAS-B0eOs19hjwPEyLwiFWiwEXdyDGiR1pa9Y3BhuEmsEUnQWry2iqZjL9Tep1l6hOAOPfvup4u8z_F3J7_4hgHub2LmfW0E9LYaIKV69ZLcSMy5exDWPtJINTONnE36VEAdz4Gxni/s1600/Planet+Dragons+013+Pg+02+-+05.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="241" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwu9mAS-B0eOs19hjwPEyLwiFWiwEXdyDGiR1pa9Y3BhuEmsEUnQWry2iqZjL9Tep1l6hOAOPfvup4u8z_F3J7_4hgHub2LmfW0E9LYaIKV69ZLcSMy5exDWPtJINTONnE36VEAdz4Gxni/s320/Planet+Dragons+013+Pg+02+-+05.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And finally done!!<br />

No more random threads sticking out, everything clean... hoop removed. I'll call it a success.<br />
<br />
An interesting note is that when I normally stitch I go from color with the most stitches to the least, I did it the other way around here. I did the least amount of stitches in the row, then finished with the most. I think I did this to try to get most of the threads at the bottom of the row and more out of my way.<br />

Now that I have actually tried parking I can honestly say it is not for me. I'll stick to my cross country, except for any other challenges that may come along. So now my hoop is free and I'm going to finish off part of another project really quick.Dylimeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03972706726542415581noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4159930323405591562.post-30563109591750619892016-07-19T12:43:00.000-07:002016-08-08T17:49:35.164-07:00SS Planet Dragons MC: First Post - Page 1For those of you who aren't familiar with with Heaven and Earth Designs, SS and MC stand for Supersized and Max Color. First off, I would like to say I swore I would never to a supersized chart. They take too long... and I just don't stitch that fast. Well that was until I saw that someone had requested this chart not only supersized, but also with max colors. So this chart is 999 stitches wide by 571 stitches tall and contains 239 colors.<br />
<br />
So it may come as no surprise to you that I love fantasy so stitching dragons is a no brainer for me. However, what you may not know about me is that I love astronomy. So this pattern puts two of my loves into one piece. And Pluto is included! <3 Pluto!<br />
<br />
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Yq7ExCcEM9o/V422CL7PtbI/AAAAAAAAKKc/-pNuWxxRscg2P_U9vRuzbaD_P_LW0K38wCKgB/s1600/Planet%2BDragons.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="169" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Yq7ExCcEM9o/V422CL7PtbI/AAAAAAAAKKc/-pNuWxxRscg2P_U9vRuzbaD_P_LW0K38wCKgB/s320/Planet%2BDragons.jpg" width="320" /></a>For this I actually requested the kit from HAED. I had two reasons for this. One; if I had to buy all the colors in skeins it's possible that there would be two different dye lots and that could make it look bad. If I'm going to spend so much time on this I want it to look right. Two; it's ALOT of floss in lots of different colors. I thought having them do it would just be easier. Lucky for me when I requested this kit there was a 20% or 25% off, I can't remember which, sale going on. And the kit was ready to order long before the sale was over.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<br />
One thing I will say about the kit is it's very nice.<br />

It comes with a wooden needle holder and the needle. I also got a blue and green needle threader, which are the perfect colors for me, even though I still haven't used it. I also ordered 5 Bohin needles because many folks on the HAED Facebook page just <i>loved</i> these needles. Most of the floss is on rings attached to laminated cards, I was putting it back in the bag at first, but that became rather tedious, so it's no longer in it's plastic bag. The four colors with the most floss are in the second bag, they are still in that bag, correction, one is sitting on top of the bag, the other three are in the bag.<br />
<br />
So I started this at the end of May, I couldn't keep myself from starting it. I started stitching with the Bohin needles. While nice, they did not work for me as well as I had hoped. I went back to my DMC size 28 needles. They are flimsy and the eye does tend to warp, but they're thin, and when you're using one thread that's helpful when trying to finish the thread off by running it under the stitches on the back. I'll probably give the Bohin needles another try when I work on 14 through 18 count fabric.<br />
<br />
On to the stitching. I was a bit worried on doing a Max Color chart. I wanted to do this one max color because of all the different colors in the planets. I thought with more colors they'd be closer to the artist's color, and it would look better. My apprehension was on the background. Would the colors be added to the background and make it ridiculously filled with different colors, or would it be decent?<br />
<br />
I was happy with the answer. The first page only contains 20 colors, 16 of which are actual background colors, the other 4 are in the tip of Mercury's wing.<br />
<br />
I took pictures one color at a time for a bit.<br />
<br />
One color:<br />

The bottom unstitched bit is the beginning of Mercury's wing. I'll do that when I get to the page below it.<br />

The next challenge from HAED is parking a full page. Blech. At first I was going to skip this one, but I realized if I did that it would be the opposite of what the challenges are for. To get you to try something different. If you try it, you might like it. I'm going to do page two of this pattern for the challenge. I picked that because I wanted to take baby steps into parking, page 2 only has 11 colors, so I think that's the best way to approach it. And thankfully they're allowing lightly feathered pages. I think mine qualifies as light feathering.<br />
<br />
Wow, this ended up being a lot longer than I thought it was going to be. I don't know when my next post will be, but I'm going to try to catch up. I have much more to blog about.Dylimeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03972706726542415581noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4159930323405591562.post-21796904179805173852016-07-18T21:36:00.002-07:002016-07-18T21:36:15.380-07:00Welcome to the Jungle: Second Post - FramedAlrighty. It has been a while... So I've been busy, I'm starting a new job tomorrow! Yay! So hopefully now I'll have more time for crafting and I'll be less tired. Who knows, the new job might kill all my desire to craft... I really hope not. My craft room will get lonely if I don't craft.<br />
<br />
Moving on. I have tons of framed items to share. Today I'm going to share Welcome to the Jungle. This was for my youngest nephew. We framed it the same way we framed his brother's so that was really easy.<br />
<br />
Here we go:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgmbLFBRm_9D8zpRg60fT020J7bBy1wJVJctzxBTep0DARy-mkK5eFHVRQ0SpAfi-PJ6NuD83DKOMNcnQXHXRh_p1PiuBz35m1olxeJ-M_sCCOK8vbKK_tf0zNJQTYqSabWNtrylom-UOf/s1600/Welcome+to+the+Jungle+20.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgmbLFBRm_9D8zpRg60fT020J7bBy1wJVJctzxBTep0DARy-mkK5eFHVRQ0SpAfi-PJ6NuD83DKOMNcnQXHXRh_p1PiuBz35m1olxeJ-M_sCCOK8vbKK_tf0zNJQTYqSabWNtrylom-UOf/s320/Welcome+to+the+Jungle+20.jpg" width="274" /></a></div>
<br />
I was at my sister's house when I took this and my mother was there too, so they decided we should take a picture with Kellan next to his cross stitch. We told him to sit by his picture...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6peSckIbs-o/V42qKUUANlI/AAAAAAAAKJ0/aDSxxAvMM8cC9_m0magNOnw1gen6BD3JwCKgB/s1600/Welcome%2Bto%2Bthe%2BJungle%2B21a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6peSckIbs-o/V42qKUUANlI/AAAAAAAAKJ0/aDSxxAvMM8cC9_m0magNOnw1gen6BD3JwCKgB/s320/Welcome%2Bto%2Bthe%2BJungle%2B21a.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
... Apparently we should have been more specific.<br />
<br />
So we told him to sit <i>next</i> to the picture.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-B62mNaddKj0/V42qKbRaWKI/AAAAAAAAKJ0/uMrDPes6y_gKM9Eqwej4vlUkXWvA-38rQCKgB/s1600/Welcome%2Bto%2Bthe%2BJungle%2B21b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-B62mNaddKj0/V42qKbRaWKI/AAAAAAAAKJ0/uMrDPes6y_gKM9Eqwej4vlUkXWvA-38rQCKgB/s320/Welcome%2Bto%2Bthe%2BJungle%2B21b.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<i>Much</i> better.<br />
<br />
And of course the eldest didn't want to be left out so we took his off the wall and took a picture with him next to his.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1ufmVeFOAhE/V42qKsOA88I/AAAAAAAAKJ0/NZbXeEJUE3E_hTwmRx38rA-KGkuunK2ZwCKgB/s1600/Welcome%2Bto%2Bthe%2BJungle%2B22.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1ufmVeFOAhE/V42qKsOA88I/AAAAAAAAKJ0/NZbXeEJUE3E_hTwmRx38rA-KGkuunK2ZwCKgB/s320/Welcome%2Bto%2Bthe%2BJungle%2B22.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
My mother actually stitched this one, but I did frame it, so up on my blog it goes!<br />
<br />
The boys are 2 ½ and 5 ½ in the pictures which were taken about a month ago. They grow so fast!<br />
<br />
I have a few things to blog about, I just don't want to stop working on things long enough to blog. Also I'm starting to work off of my iPad instead of my laptop, so before I'd already have the laptop on and would just blog, now I need to turn on the laptop, and it's much easier to just continue stitching. I'm going to work on another long overdue post. I'll see you again soon!Dylimeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03972706726542415581noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4159930323405591562.post-77391154236054016362016-06-03T09:59:00.000-07:002016-06-03T09:59:11.173-07:00Train Kellan: Second Post - CompletedI finished up Kellan's train name this morning.<br />
<br />
Here's the smoke/steam is added to the letter K, it's gray Kreinik. The original pattern had the smoke/steam fully stitched, but since I was trying to match the other one I made I just kept it as an outline.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-e_oKksXKOPw/V1GsnMTWNjI/AAAAAAAAJh4/lnn_Afi4DiEK1tHXJDHjddWZq0P3ys-igCKgB/s1600/Train%2BKellan%2B10.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="279" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-e_oKksXKOPw/V1GsnMTWNjI/AAAAAAAAJh4/lnn_Afi4DiEK1tHXJDHjddWZq0P3ys-igCKgB/s320/Train%2BKellan%2B10.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
So next up was the A. I did the same thing on this one as the A in the other one. It got a hat. This time and engineer hat. This one was the moth difficult to make. I did finally find a hat in the correct orientation, but the only way I could achieve what I wanted included a massive amount of back-stitching. But I'm getting ahead of myself.<br />
<br />
First off is the A.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WZKifpQf9OY/V1GsnDH0cLI/AAAAAAAAJhQ/8FUjzxGb9ZwSSmMGon8bs4diuDlnEiZVACKgB/s1600/Train%2BKellan%2B11.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="313" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WZKifpQf9OY/V1GsnDH0cLI/AAAAAAAAJhQ/8FUjzxGb9ZwSSmMGon8bs4diuDlnEiZVACKgB/s320/Train%2BKellan%2B11.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The hat is all one color, so this was an easy one to stitch.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9SRZ3qDCm1w/V1GsnFANm1I/AAAAAAAAJhU/YwNAaSfna1ECodO3GniF8CMhvDiPHEwxgCKgB/s1600/Train%2BKellan%2B12.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9SRZ3qDCm1w/V1GsnFANm1I/AAAAAAAAJhU/YwNAaSfna1ECodO3GniF8CMhvDiPHEwxgCKgB/s320/Train%2BKellan%2B12.jpg" width="282" /></a></div>
<br />
And then the crazy amount of back-stitching:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3XzXmD7h84jEDA_3xJmapA5o9tHWVOjbQJlEjtaVeFEWG6c65dBYFWQJZTZ0sTEGA6lY2w7y9pQ5ce1uGHtLcpQckWjw016Rtfa36hlLCglGXXbtRuzN7SrZHyvL4oCltKRBgKaAcZy9o/s1600/Train+Kellan+13.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3XzXmD7h84jEDA_3xJmapA5o9tHWVOjbQJlEjtaVeFEWG6c65dBYFWQJZTZ0sTEGA6lY2w7y9pQ5ce1uGHtLcpQckWjw016Rtfa36hlLCglGXXbtRuzN7SrZHyvL4oCltKRBgKaAcZy9o/s320/Train+Kellan+13.jpg" width="275" /></a></div>
This is the letter that I'm least happy with, but when I look at it from far away I don't think it looks too bad.<br />
<br />
The next letter is the last, so it has to be the caboose. This one started as a caboose I found online. But I did modify it quite a bit. It was a more realistic looking caboose. I altered it heavily to try to give it the same look as the engine. This one went through a few edits after sending some samples to my sister.<br />
<br />
The letter N is quite covered, not as much as the K though.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nitfPSxFxCg/V1GsnTgsAaI/AAAAAAAAJhg/lqBXB1FMnUg_B0B43Qk_5cv4yOhMqgO5wCKgB/s1600/Train%2BKellan%2B14.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nitfPSxFxCg/V1GsnTgsAaI/AAAAAAAAJhg/lqBXB1FMnUg_B0B43Qk_5cv4yOhMqgO5wCKgB/s320/Train%2BKellan%2B14.jpg" width="279" /></a></div>
<br />
All stitched in the standard red color, with a little bit of yellow to make it a little more interesting.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vUcW0CHxXPA/V1GsnZADGqI/AAAAAAAAJh8/W_1FLoksH8kgFbsGhhtPEMMSyVBoT7qYgCKgB/s1600/Train%2BKellan%2B15.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vUcW0CHxXPA/V1GsnZADGqI/AAAAAAAAJh8/W_1FLoksH8kgFbsGhhtPEMMSyVBoT7qYgCKgB/s320/Train%2BKellan%2B15.jpg" width="308" /></a></div>
<br />
This had a bit of back stitching too, but not as much as the engine.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifKax6Fgu48pVImELuI33Bc7R_STizmyJ8v2AMRIuhQsh8eWf81hDGPtgGnAdHCAZFagDF8Qlxe2y2VbhqvTMzk6Iu0pXfA2BlDalwytGxebmo3zpez1ofv2IMrp3MXV68quOajWqw1p6G/s1600/Train+Kellan+16.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifKax6Fgu48pVImELuI33Bc7R_STizmyJ8v2AMRIuhQsh8eWf81hDGPtgGnAdHCAZFagDF8Qlxe2y2VbhqvTMzk6Iu0pXfA2BlDalwytGxebmo3zpez1ofv2IMrp3MXV68quOajWqw1p6G/s320/Train+Kellan+16.jpg" width="319" /></a></div>
<br />
At the bottom I added a border, but this time I just kept it simple as a train track, however it was a lot of stitches and seemed to take forever.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-EGP_lo67jjM/V1GsoTTST-I/AAAAAAAAJiM/3plEzBfGyp8BLIji2SYIvsrE04BQu6GIwCKgB/s1600/Train%2BKellan%2B17.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="188" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-EGP_lo67jjM/V1GsoTTST-I/AAAAAAAAJiM/3plEzBfGyp8BLIji2SYIvsrE04BQu6GIwCKgB/s640/Train%2BKellan%2B17.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
All done! And done long before I needed to have it done. Now I just need to get it framed.<br />

For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about you can find the posts <a href="http://dylimes.blogspot.com/search/label/Firefighter%20Logan">here</a>.<br />
<br />
My younger nephew likes trains, that is what my sister thinks she wants to change his room to. However, she's having difficulties finding anything other than Thomas the Train, and she doesn't want to go that route. So I started scouring the internet for train letters. I found quite a few, but none were what I wanted. Most were an engine on the front, letters on flatbeds and a caboose. However, I wanted to keep the two as similar to each other as I could. So I decided to do the only thing I could, design my own.<br />
<br />
And that's what I did. I used the same letters from the original Firefighter's Sampler and created a train theme.<br />
<br />
The first letter up is L, or Ls. I decided these would work well for some train crossing signals, one for each L. I found an photograph and copied it as best I could. However, the only way I could get it to work the way I wanted was for the poles to be off a half a stitch, and since I was going to be stitching this on evenweave it seemed completely doable.<br />
<br />
First the letter, in the same blue color as Logan's, I had originally thought of changing it to green. But my sister suggested to keep it the same color. I think I like the pattern better with the blue anyway.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7VWHUCl_YQtXHFmzE4s6Yfqb9wC8gkjiqAk1vUEoaOIp4Uyf_mK7p7_NEH8hMBsS_DuatHvN6iUixBnu48LMEtgB-1LFGpXRvTWWqsqu8AscHfGbg_kc7ZtymA3Gf53DIcx6XxylquEka/s1600/Train+Kellan+01.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="253" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7VWHUCl_YQtXHFmzE4s6Yfqb9wC8gkjiqAk1vUEoaOIp4Uyf_mK7p7_NEH8hMBsS_DuatHvN6iUixBnu48LMEtgB-1LFGpXRvTWWqsqu8AscHfGbg_kc7ZtymA3Gf53DIcx6XxylquEka/s320/Train+Kellan+01.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Now for the crosses of the crossing signals.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/--hr_PaAvT9I/V0pYSeatkLI/AAAAAAAAJg8/Rk_08zd1hMsCbsqlWnekGiXRn9WlSpNlACKgB/s1600/Train%2BKellan%2B02.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="232" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/--hr_PaAvT9I/V0pYSeatkLI/AAAAAAAAJg8/Rk_08zd1hMsCbsqlWnekGiXRn9WlSpNlACKgB/s320/Train%2BKellan%2B02.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And some back-stitching so you can actually see where the white is.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-aBsjqyqdX1w/V0pYSbsTSTI/AAAAAAAAJg8/DKSEzLzkEFsGLN2svAtCVs6dm4LtMlUegCKgB/s1600/Train%2BKellan%2B03.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="244" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-aBsjqyqdX1w/V0pYSbsTSTI/AAAAAAAAJg8/DKSEzLzkEFsGLN2svAtCVs6dm4LtMlUegCKgB/s320/Train%2BKellan%2B03.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
And there they are.<br />
<br />
Next up is the E. My sister suggested a tunnel for the A, but I already had another idea for the A, and I thought that too much would be covered up of the tunnel if I used that letter, so the tunnel went to the E. This one I just made up. I didn't use a picture or anything, I just kind of did a stereotypical tunnel.<br />
<br />
E first, the entire E is actually visible, the tunnel goes behind it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-G1g18SK07BY/V0pYSZFGR9I/AAAAAAAAJg0/cKA_P06O9L0Jrywf6Xy_oaUTV-JQW4zmwCKgB/s1600/Train%2BKellan%2B04.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-G1g18SK07BY/V0pYSZFGR9I/AAAAAAAAJg0/cKA_P06O9L0Jrywf6Xy_oaUTV-JQW4zmwCKgB/s320/Train%2BKellan%2B04.jpg" width="248" /></a></div>
So when I counted and double counted to make sure I counted right, I eventually found that I hadn't counted right. Everything was two stitches too far to the right. I knew I had to fix it or the tunnel would run into the signals, and I didn't want that, so I did a little creative cross stitching and corrected my mistake without having to tear out every single stitch.<br />
<br />
Now for the tunnel. I tried to make a kind of brick looking archway around it. And it's dark in there, so there's black, and then the light gray on the bottom for the rock ballast that hold the wooden ties.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QJEdkR5uz70/V0pYSlOyZCI/AAAAAAAAJg0/PySMTACaJloIgymy_x-qwVQ0CdFtwF58wCKgB/s1600/Train%2BKellan%2B05.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QJEdkR5uz70/V0pYSlOyZCI/AAAAAAAAJg0/PySMTACaJloIgymy_x-qwVQ0CdFtwF58wCKgB/s320/Train%2BKellan%2B05.jpg" width="268" /></a></div>
Originally there was going to be a cross stitched line of brown for the closest tie, but I was showing my design progress to my sister and she thought it looked weird and asked me try it without it, and after I altered it, I agreed the new design looked better.<br />
<br />
Which leads me to the next image with all the back-stitching.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-qNzAqYy0X7k/V0pYSpOcRxI/AAAAAAAAJg0/kTrp0VZxNpEOnGtqPHfnbuf4oZp8hJGmgCKgB/s1600/Train%2BKellan%2B06.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-qNzAqYy0X7k/V0pYSpOcRxI/AAAAAAAAJg0/kTrp0VZxNpEOnGtqPHfnbuf4oZp8hJGmgCKgB/s320/Train%2BKellan%2B06.jpg" width="259" /></a></div>
The "closest" two ties are actually long-stitched with two strands, while the rest are single strands, and I did long stitches as well for the rails so they looked like one continuous piece of metal. I didn't back-stitch around the brown, I was hoping that would give the feeling like the brown didn't end there, but rather continued to the rest of the hill.<br />
<br />
Next one is K. This is the first one designed, and, I have to admit, this is the letter that I designed the least. Since the K is the first letter it seemed fitting that it would have the engine. I had found a simple pattern that I really liked, and, surprisingly enough, it ended up being the perfect size. So, I copied it, my apologies to whoever actually created it, but since I'm not selling this I think I'm okay. But <a href="http://idratherbestitchin.blogspot.co.uk/2012/01/toy-corner.html">here's</a> the blog post with the original image I used to create mine.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTvUmJ8U07rA5u5DzymYRbx22k0MpMqqhD3Ud12ytUvLpfmAJBn3JiEAkrGYZlDNCRVUXiPLVzvv4qz8QHzMqOP0SlRVz5FoTerADKf7Ci0gFep89DnGPzQXt5BzPRWu63XP3S7JudDov9/s1600/Train+Kellan+07.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTvUmJ8U07rA5u5DzymYRbx22k0MpMqqhD3Ud12ytUvLpfmAJBn3JiEAkrGYZlDNCRVUXiPLVzvv4qz8QHzMqOP0SlRVz5FoTerADKf7Ci0gFep89DnGPzQXt5BzPRWu63XP3S7JudDov9/s320/Train+Kellan+07.jpg" width="256" /></a></div>
After my misadventure with the E I decided to make doubly sure that I counted correctly on the K. And I failed, this time it was one stitch too far right. Maybe I'll have more luck with the other two letters.<br />
<br />
Here's the train in front of the K.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jv9Dwugu6oM/V0pYTJo2H_I/AAAAAAAAJg0/5HW3kFXDPMsE5lkysanRB3Rn8Hw2FwASQCKgB/s1600/Train%2BKellan%2B08.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="252" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jv9Dwugu6oM/V0pYTJo2H_I/AAAAAAAAJg0/5HW3kFXDPMsE5lkysanRB3Rn8Hw2FwASQCKgB/s320/Train%2BKellan%2B08.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And a massive amount of back-stitching was done on this.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-NN04CwTKp2k/V0pYTZD_AqI/AAAAAAAAJg0/7H8chvqiqdEx1xOUL0I5eb5GQlgTVpecwCKgB/s1600/Train%2BKellan%2B09.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-NN04CwTKp2k/V0pYTZD_AqI/AAAAAAAAJg0/7H8chvqiqdEx1xOUL0I5eb5GQlgTVpecwCKgB/s320/Train%2BKellan%2B09.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
You may have noticed a few missing back-stitches on the K, well, that's where I'm going to use a gray Kreinik for the steam or smoke coming out of the stack. I just forgot the Kreinik at home.<br />

So, this was one of the two pieces I was supposed to work on next from my list. Even though his birthday isn't until November, I wanted to get it done before a custom framing coupon expires. However, I ordered a kit from HAED. And it's <b><i>VERY</i></b> tempting to start on it. I must resist!Dylimeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03972706726542415581noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4159930323405591562.post-17023271962249389592016-05-23T18:42:00.002-07:002016-05-23T18:42:35.151-07:00Needle Felting: Hedgehog - Completed<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KkGfEk8lXMw/V0KDkPPdVDI/AAAAAAAAJV4/u7ewoXFmlXAdEXwgvGo4BU2iiNBoJE5lwCKgB/s1600/Hedgehog.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KkGfEk8lXMw/V0KDkPPdVDI/AAAAAAAAJV4/u7ewoXFmlXAdEXwgvGo4BU2iiNBoJE5lwCKgB/s200/Hedgehog.jpg" width="175" /></a>Well, I decided to start a new type of craft on Saturday. Needle felting. I'd seen these kits at work for a while and thought they'd be fun. But Saturday I was working in the sewing department and lamented over the fact that I didn't have a pin cushion. Okay, lamented is a bit over-dramatic. There was a hedgehog pin cushion, it was cute... but this guy is cuter.<br />
<br />
So I decided to make him and use him as a pin cushion. I had never needle felted before, so I had no idea how this would turn out. But as a novice needle felter be prepared to stab yourself. Alot. Blood may be drawn. I stab pieces of fabric practically everyday, so this was normal, just less organized.<br />
<br />
I believe the kit said it should take 4-6 hours. I started it at work during my 15 minute break, then worked on it during lunch, then continued on during my second 15 minute break. The instructions were pretty good and by the time I got home I had a decent egg shaped body.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KKmUtQKNApw/V0KDjiRjw4I/AAAAAAAAJV4/ScGyZrzUEpIGvFCbLE_FmidzwjkwAB4jwCKgB/s1600/Hedgehog%2B1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KKmUtQKNApw/V0KDjiRjw4I/AAAAAAAAJV4/ScGyZrzUEpIGvFCbLE_FmidzwjkwAB4jwCKgB/s320/Hedgehog%2B1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Next some brown and a few legs, there are two on the other side, I promise. The legs were kind of a pain, but after doing some research after finishing this I think I found a better way.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiNtlDrSKc9t78-u4YFESASB46Ti0G4l3IImuCgP-mGbxa77yLi94OeQYqDRcdScHZ-TOBG7O57Ald6FqOGrKvtXJxwT7pwEkXjT1pmWXWX-ScXayj80Daqe6-ifBwBs2oYghm9r70z7Z0/s1600/Hedgehog+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="270" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiNtlDrSKc9t78-u4YFESASB46Ti0G4l3IImuCgP-mGbxa77yLi94OeQYqDRcdScHZ-TOBG7O57Ald6FqOGrKvtXJxwT7pwEkXjT1pmWXWX-ScXayj80Daqe6-ifBwBs2oYghm9r70z7Z0/s320/Hedgehog+2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>

<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HSNCJ70Eq9M/VzvVUKIlnpI/AAAAAAAAJDc/kckz_oIS6X4P5iZAKMrSaWvQ80nlWc1vQCKgB/s1600/Seashell%2BTreasures.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="219" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HSNCJ70Eq9M/VzvVUKIlnpI/AAAAAAAAJDc/kckz_oIS6X4P5iZAKMrSaWvQ80nlWc1vQCKgB/s320/Seashell%2BTreasures.JPG" width="320" /></a>I made this for my mother for her birthday... in January, oops. I actually had everything except the back-stitching done before her birthday. So it has taken four months to do the back stitching, which I did almost all of it Tuesday.<br />
<br />
I started this originally to have it completed as a Christmas present, but work was too busy, I just didn't have enough hours in the day to complete everything I wanted to do.<br />
<br />
Anyway, my parents' master bathroom is shell themed, not beach themed. When I saw this pattern in the store it seemed perfect.<br />
<br />
Interesting side note: I seem to make quite a few things for my parents' bathrooms. For those confused I made <a href="http://dylimes.blogspot.com/search/label/Anthera">Anthera</a> and <a href="http://dylimes.blogspot.com/search/label/Colombina">Colombina</a> for a bathroom too, even though they currently are not in the intended bathroom.<br />
<br />
Wow, I'm chatty today... moving on: Here I have a couple of colors, mostly neutrals.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5oofb2l2PRU/VzvQFdAQljI/AAAAAAAAJDI/FMsYq9t-_UUK-9NJdmkI__vKQpbmaENFQCKgB/s1600/Seashell%2BTreasures%2B1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5oofb2l2PRU/VzvQFdAQljI/AAAAAAAAJDI/FMsYq9t-_UUK-9NJdmkI__vKQpbmaENFQCKgB/s320/Seashell%2BTreasures%2B1.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Then I got tired of neutrals and did the pinks.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JmfUnHGwotY/VzvQFVkTusI/AAAAAAAAJDA/P4QYMaNk76gX0_jXrQrFxTFSINLA-5QmQCKgB/s1600/Seashell%2BTreasures%2B2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="132" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JmfUnHGwotY/VzvQFVkTusI/AAAAAAAAJDA/P4QYMaNk76gX0_jXrQrFxTFSINLA-5QmQCKgB/s320/Seashell%2BTreasures%2B2.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And everything else (except back-stitching):<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-m0VvsPD0RdE/VzvQFo93ciI/AAAAAAAAJC8/5HWEcwvNXFMCIzw1nMoa3PHip2ZFR7t8QCKgB/s1600/Seashell%2BTreasures%2B3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="145" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-m0VvsPD0RdE/VzvQFo93ciI/AAAAAAAAJC8/5HWEcwvNXFMCIzw1nMoa3PHip2ZFR7t8QCKgB/s320/Seashell%2BTreasures%2B3.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And finally the back-stitching that I was procrastinating on.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ederRnu6Umk/Vz3zIZghzLI/AAAAAAAAJEQ/Li4Jaba-Ob8ZLteUUKotiXUl01Fhw-b2QCKgB/s1600/Seashell%2BTreasures%2B4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="165" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ederRnu6Umk/Vz3zIZghzLI/AAAAAAAAJEQ/Li4Jaba-Ob8ZLteUUKotiXUl01Fhw-b2QCKgB/s400/Seashell%2BTreasures%2B4.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
I altered the back stitching on the starfish. It was supposed to have three stranded back-stitching on it, that just seemed too busy and bulky. I already liked the starfish without all the white back-stitching, so I figured taking it down to one strand might not be a bad idea. Actually... I guess they're called sea stars now according to my 5-year-old nephew... That's not happening, they'll more than likely always be star fish to me.<br />
<br />
Funny thing is another blog I follow, <a href="http://crossstitchangel.blogspot.com/2016/04/i-on-roll.html">Cross Stitch Angel</a>, also stitched this. She finished this early last month. She decided to completely omit the back-stitching on the starfish.<br />

I know what my list says I'm supposed to work on next, I'm not sure if I'll actually do what I've planned or make a slight deviation.Dylimeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03972706726542415581noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4159930323405591562.post-36772922860185073072016-05-17T08:55:00.000-07:002016-05-17T11:23:26.015-07:00A Night for Enchantment: First Post - Page 1<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2VvlDzr5ixU/VzqO3VjuV6I/AAAAAAAAJCI/R2W2Oi4SAUYDYEWU6o4OPUnvU_8yXi7hQCKgB/s1600/A%2BNight%2Bfor%2BEnchantment.jpg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="246" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2VvlDzr5ixU/VzqO3VjuV6I/AAAAAAAAJCI/R2W2Oi4SAUYDYEWU6o4OPUnvU_8yXi7hQCKgB/s320/A%2BNight%2Bfor%2BEnchantment.jpg.jpg" width="320" /></a>So I made a new start for the HAED Challenge #2. This challenge was the way I normally stitch, cross country, one whole page. My challenge was finding a page that hadn't been started at all, which was a requirement. Since I feather my pages, the easiest way to do this was to make a new start. This chart was one that I really liked and had wanted to start for a while. This is A Night for Enchantment by <a href="http://www.creativedust.com/">Drazenka Kimpel</a>.<br />
<br />
So, since it was a new start I had to take a picture of the blank fabric, so I decided to post that as well. Once piece of 28 ct. evenweave:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XLw9ojH4nlQ/VzqLz8o7jBI/AAAAAAAAJB8/njCoHzO-HyAbJGEHEI8N4l-zN0KXjxfuACKgB/s1600/A%2BNight%2Bfor%2BEnchantment%2B001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XLw9ojH4nlQ/VzqLz8o7jBI/AAAAAAAAJB8/njCoHzO-HyAbJGEHEI8N4l-zN0KXjxfuACKgB/s320/A%2BNight%2Bfor%2BEnchantment%2B001.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And now for my progress shots:<br />
<br />
First color, the color with the most stitches, 939:<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uXy0JD2dKaU/VzqL0DbUxsI/AAAAAAAAJB8/RvLP43HAWQc3BykSBgpemUP7p7aW-0l3gCKgB/s1600/A%2BNight%2Bfor%2BEnchantment%2B002%2BPg%2B01-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uXy0JD2dKaU/VzqL0DbUxsI/AAAAAAAAJB8/RvLP43HAWQc3BykSBgpemUP7p7aW-0l3gCKgB/s320/A%2BNight%2Bfor%2BEnchantment%2B002%2BPg%2B01-1.jpg" width="310" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">1 color</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I was going to do the dark green next, but I couldn't find it so I just did random colors.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dfugzyG8sY0/VzqLz-m13MI/AAAAAAAAJBg/xiaV3_S-P4UPQB0WgZxgvL1q5qeLh4NuACKgB/s1600/A%2BNight%2Bfor%2BEnchantment%2B002%2BPg%2B01-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dfugzyG8sY0/VzqLz-m13MI/AAAAAAAAJBg/xiaV3_S-P4UPQB0WgZxgvL1q5qeLh4NuACKgB/s320/A%2BNight%2Bfor%2BEnchantment%2B002%2BPg%2B01-2.jpg" width="301" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">6 colors</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I finally found the green, and decided to do the white at the bottom, the second most color:<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-piQ5DpIp47Q/VzqL0Ra7jyI/AAAAAAAAJBk/9bQF1DvAm3czJfwUjpj0OX2lEAyrPc3hQCKgB/s1600/A%2BNight%2Bfor%2BEnchantment%2B003%2BPg%2B01-3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-piQ5DpIp47Q/VzqL0Ra7jyI/AAAAAAAAJBk/9bQF1DvAm3czJfwUjpj0OX2lEAyrPc3hQCKgB/s320/A%2BNight%2Bfor%2BEnchantment%2B003%2BPg%2B01-3.jpg" width="293" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">8 colors</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Now... I lost a whole bunch of colors. I have absolutely no idea where they went, they were in my bedroom, then whoosh, missing! So I just started working on the colors that I hadn't lost, which was probably about 20:<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-aI1vlMtLcyk/VzqL0e-WHvI/AAAAAAAAJBo/6DJ6lx-rO-8gingc5PU20jtnBgRvZ7tvgCKgB/s1600/A%2BNight%2Bfor%2BEnchantment%2B004%2BPg%2B01-4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-aI1vlMtLcyk/VzqL0e-WHvI/AAAAAAAAJBo/6DJ6lx-rO-8gingc5PU20jtnBgRvZ7tvgCKgB/s320/A%2BNight%2Bfor%2BEnchantment%2B004%2BPg%2B01-4.jpg" width="298" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">21 colors</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I finally gave up on finding the thread, so I bought the rest of the colors again and did the higher numbered colors:<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-h8YlmewpGRA/VzqL0SF1kHI/AAAAAAAAJBs/vwe3TKEuJwokjsTep8dg5NDJchau3n2LwCKgB/s1600/A%2BNight%2Bfor%2BEnchantment%2B005%2BPg%2B01-5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-h8YlmewpGRA/VzqL0SF1kHI/AAAAAAAAJBs/vwe3TKEuJwokjsTep8dg5NDJchau3n2LwCKgB/s320/A%2BNight%2Bfor%2BEnchantment%2B005%2BPg%2B01-5.jpg" width="296" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">45 colors</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Then I just started at the lowest numbered color and worked my way up:<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WcdcdX8tP_k/VzqL0swasxI/AAAAAAAAJBw/gQHgVUrn7zc_0DhyGgPesqzFVT75ikHzgCKgB/s1600/A%2BNight%2Bfor%2BEnchantment%2B006%2BPg%2B01-6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WcdcdX8tP_k/VzqL0swasxI/AAAAAAAAJBw/gQHgVUrn7zc_0DhyGgPesqzFVT75ikHzgCKgB/s320/A%2BNight%2Bfor%2BEnchantment%2B006%2BPg%2B01-6.jpg" width="302" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">63 colors</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
And the final 7 colors are in:<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vJ3_Er9Arc4/VzqL02odg2I/AAAAAAAAJB0/kPaLdDB6Nh0QkEuMKYqQ27OntPySxU3GACKgB/s1600/A%2BNight%2Bfor%2BEnchantment%2B007%2BPg%2B01-7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vJ3_Er9Arc4/VzqL02odg2I/AAAAAAAAJB0/kPaLdDB6Nh0QkEuMKYqQ27OntPySxU3GACKgB/s320/A%2BNight%2Bfor%2BEnchantment%2B007%2BPg%2B01-7.jpg" width="298" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">70 colors</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
A total of 70 colors completed for the challenge, completed well before the time limit of 6/15/16. But let me tell you, those flowers were brutal. There are so many different colors and the back is a complete mess. But the front looks nice, so that's what's important.<br />

I think I'm going to do this one a little oddly, kind of at a diagonal. I'll probably go to the right, then go to the page under this one.<br />
<br />
Now, off to complete back-stitching that I've been avoiding as much as possible. I'm hoping to finish it today or tomorrow, so you may see another completed project in a few days!Dylimeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03972706726542415581noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4159930323405591562.post-58969393755003670322016-05-11T09:34:00.000-07:002016-05-11T09:59:40.334-07:00Nocturne: Sixth Post - Framed<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm trying to get through all my backlog framed posts that I've started, but never finished and published.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Let's see... when was Nocturne finished, October 2014.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xrogGhfNKoA/VqvWfcRGcTI/AAAAAAAAIvQ/pxfDzVooaeA/s1600/Nocturne%2B11.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="316" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xrogGhfNKoA/VqvWfcRGcTI/AAAAAAAAIvQ/pxfDzVooaeA/s320/Nocturne%2B11.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
So it's not the best picture, but at least I'm finally posting it. Yay me!<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I've been working on the HAED Challenge #2. I'm over 80% done with it, and I'm hoping to finish by the end of this weekend.</div>

<br />
This is a discontinued pattern, I was barely able to find a picture of it at all, and the original paperwork was lost. This originally was being stitched by my mother. She got frustrated with it, she kept counting wrong and just couldn't get through it. So I offered to take over and finish it off. However, it was completely lost, what she had already stitched and the chart as well. Luckily I had a working copy of it that I was using to chart the name so it wasn't completely lost.<br />
<br />
It's being stitched on 14 ct Aida in order to match the one made for his older brother. That's not really a problem, however, this chart contains an obscene amount of ¼ and ¾ stitches. Now, if I see these stitches I get a fabric where I can go over two. Also, working on this made me realize just how much I don't care for Aida fabric anymore, I am a much bigger fan of evenweave.<br />
<br />
This is one of those projects that I should have done multiple posts on, but I just kept stitching instead of posting, so I apologize for the insane number of pictures.<br />
<br />
I picked up everything I needed on my way to my parents' house where I started working on it. Then my sister and nephews showed up, and the little one, who I'm making this for, was curious:<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-r5TZ9MUkXKA/VzAJOpwRyVI/AAAAAAAAI-I/NgQ69uxKbN82cWAy6wW1IJ_yI8e73CyiwCKgB/s1600/Welcome%2Bto%2Bthe%2BJungle%2B01.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-r5TZ9MUkXKA/VzAJOpwRyVI/AAAAAAAAI-I/NgQ69uxKbN82cWAy6wW1IJ_yI8e73CyiwCKgB/s320/Welcome%2Bto%2Bthe%2BJungle%2B01.jpg" width="240" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">What'cha doing Auntie Em?</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I finished the name really quickly:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-h2-0upIeOpo/VzAJOR_WesI/AAAAAAAAI9Q/1JD9im-oAdk8MV3PANNPsRymJWsgdL6fwCKgB/s1600/Welcome%2Bto%2Bthe%2BJungle%2B02.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="159" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-h2-0upIeOpo/VzAJOR_WesI/AAAAAAAAI9Q/1JD9im-oAdk8MV3PANNPsRymJWsgdL6fwCKgB/s320/Welcome%2Bto%2Bthe%2BJungle%2B02.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Kellan then decided he needed to help me (which didn't go quickly):<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JXfiMCGWOsY/VzAJOnFT3PI/AAAAAAAAI9U/TtmoeZRZTrQ0oAyRiUqLjlyElkiKHa3BgCKgB/s1600/Welcome%2Bto%2Bthe%2BJungle%2B03.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JXfiMCGWOsY/VzAJOnFT3PI/AAAAAAAAI9U/TtmoeZRZTrQ0oAyRiUqLjlyElkiKHa3BgCKgB/s320/Welcome%2Bto%2Bthe%2BJungle%2B03.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
But it'll be a nice story to tell him, he helped with his own cross stitch. It took three or four times longer to stitch, but he wanted to help so badly so there was no way I could say no, and he's just too cute, it was worth every extra minute.<br />
<br />
After his help, with the large light green leaf, I got through the leaves much more quickly.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
My favorite animal makes an appearance:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-O1yWrJ_5V24/VzAJPDLkNEI/AAAAAAAAI-g/FqcC6uoBxpEAEP4vIpTQG-A72dyuFsgYQCKgB/s1600/Welcome%2Bto%2Bthe%2BJungle%2B05.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="215" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-O1yWrJ_5V24/VzAJPDLkNEI/AAAAAAAAI-g/FqcC6uoBxpEAEP4vIpTQG-A72dyuFsgYQCKgB/s320/Welcome%2Bto%2Bthe%2BJungle%2B05.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And he gets his back stitching:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HE1OIyuwA1Y/VzAJPDcEqbI/AAAAAAAAI-o/lI5xVchTdhwv1WdaHki7mvPNZaj4Wxp6wCKgB/s1600/Welcome%2Bto%2Bthe%2BJungle%2B06.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="217" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HE1OIyuwA1Y/VzAJPDcEqbI/AAAAAAAAI-o/lI5xVchTdhwv1WdaHki7mvPNZaj4Wxp6wCKgB/s320/Welcome%2Bto%2Bthe%2BJungle%2B06.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
As you can see in the previous pictures I was using a purple hoop to stitch. I usually use a much smaller, red, hoop, especially on the smaller count HAEDs. I figured since this was a larger count the larger hoop would be better/easier. I was wrong. I didn't like how big it was. It just seemed massive and it seemed more of a chore to stitch. So I went back to the red hoop, even though I knew I'd have to move it a lot more. I started stitching much faster after that.</div>
<br />
Back to my preferred red hoop I made a green froggy, with some of the blue back stitching to help me figure out where he's supposed to go.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-5UHMIQ0P0iE/VzAJPFe4F5I/AAAAAAAAI9k/iKGn0sAkoJMJqOzPkPSY0KoJIzM2ySfdwCKgB/s1600/Welcome%2Bto%2Bthe%2BJungle%2B07.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="192" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-5UHMIQ0P0iE/VzAJPFe4F5I/AAAAAAAAI9k/iKGn0sAkoJMJqOzPkPSY0KoJIzM2ySfdwCKgB/s320/Welcome%2Bto%2Bthe%2BJungle%2B07.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And now back stitching:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nT3xld-OoBs/VzAJPa7wkUI/AAAAAAAAI9s/WEPwtTfnaGkJOL9CJAW9sGg8Poh1lfyEwCKgB/s1600/Welcome%2Bto%2Bthe%2BJungle%2B08.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="194" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nT3xld-OoBs/VzAJPa7wkUI/AAAAAAAAI9s/WEPwtTfnaGkJOL9CJAW9sGg8Poh1lfyEwCKgB/s320/Welcome%2Bto%2Bthe%2BJungle%2B08.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Now, you'll notice on the sample picture there's a blank area on the bottom left above the frog. It seemed to be the perfect place to add the weight and height as I had done on his brother's.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-orby5oTxpAU/VzAJPdEqgaI/AAAAAAAAI9w/tWQ1iz-sskY2tn8S_w-21TBVLsCPGseQgCKgB/s1600/Welcome%2Bto%2Bthe%2BJungle%2B09.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="154" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-orby5oTxpAU/VzAJPdEqgaI/AAAAAAAAI9w/tWQ1iz-sskY2tn8S_w-21TBVLsCPGseQgCKgB/s320/Welcome%2Bto%2Bthe%2BJungle%2B09.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Anyone notice the missing back stitching? I did fix it, I don't remember when I fixed it, or why I didn't take a new picture.<br />
<br />
The next animal foliage<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nwxkJQZabgY/VzAJPkutRzI/AAAAAAAAI-s/Zy7eXfqMaZ8XrN9zMP06OunzFVUlzjHhwCKgB/s1600/Welcome%2Bto%2Bthe%2BJungle%2B10.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nwxkJQZabgY/VzAJPkutRzI/AAAAAAAAI-s/Zy7eXfqMaZ8XrN9zMP06OunzFVUlzjHhwCKgB/s320/Welcome%2Bto%2Bthe%2BJungle%2B10.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
This is the new home of a rather yellow giraffe.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiq1nVuwC4U7XyJTY8KlpdnAp6Yf9CYTHs77wp4Tda4Lv6Zo1oR-WjnAE-R5mlUutxzTRL6KDbiEddly_SAg3_ZmSrBqnfb3rqmAZFDWwmrCo5Pj37q4EbCCam170WEBwFa1gKGtSh2vV27/s1600/Welcome+to+the+Jungle+11.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="308" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiq1nVuwC4U7XyJTY8KlpdnAp6Yf9CYTHs77wp4Tda4Lv6Zo1oR-WjnAE-R5mlUutxzTRL6KDbiEddly_SAg3_ZmSrBqnfb3rqmAZFDWwmrCo5Pj37q4EbCCam170WEBwFa1gKGtSh2vV27/s320/Welcome+to+the+Jungle+11.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Now some back stitching:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0FUmwd_3jAU/VzAJPlSMGlI/AAAAAAAAI_Y/6Dn_4pjY-ukx0tm47bn_a8cpsslkaQbhACKgB/s1600/Welcome%2Bto%2Bthe%2BJungle%2B12.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="316" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0FUmwd_3jAU/VzAJPlSMGlI/AAAAAAAAI_Y/6Dn_4pjY-ukx0tm47bn_a8cpsslkaQbhACKgB/s320/Welcome%2Bto%2Bthe%2BJungle%2B12.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
There are three mistakes in the giraffe. I only remember where two are, and I'm not telling!</div>
<br />
I did the rest of the blue lines so I could find where the blue birdy went.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Fv2cmGejM3w/VzAJPxePmwI/AAAAAAAAI-4/ymhoVtRPGWUgDElvBKtrUqFriqtoCfGoQCKgB/s1600/Welcome%2Bto%2Bthe%2BJungle%2B13.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="230" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Fv2cmGejM3w/VzAJPxePmwI/AAAAAAAAI-4/ymhoVtRPGWUgDElvBKtrUqFriqtoCfGoQCKgB/s320/Welcome%2Bto%2Bthe%2BJungle%2B13.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And he got his back stitching, and for those eagle eyed readers, yes, I initially forgot a row on his tail feathers.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PLr1axP8XKE/VzAJQA2hOMI/AAAAAAAAI-8/ocQaqJE65AMtGkAxAj2s3zpx-akbZp5dwCKgB/s1600/Welcome%2Bto%2Bthe%2BJungle%2B14.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="140" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PLr1axP8XKE/VzAJQA2hOMI/AAAAAAAAI-8/ocQaqJE65AMtGkAxAj2s3zpx-akbZp5dwCKgB/s320/Welcome%2Bto%2Bthe%2BJungle%2B14.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The title of the piece. (Viewed with the top of the giraffe's head.)<br />

<div>
Apparently all animals have swirly cheeks or noses... I never knew that...</div>
<br />
And here it is in it's entirety!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />

It definitely needs to be ironed. We already have the frame for it. We wanted it to match his brother's so we bought it shortly after he was born. Unfortunately, we have no idea where it is at the moment.<br />

While doing the stats I noticed that it took me exactly 2 months to finish, but most of the work was done in the last week, April 26th through May 4th. Off to a different project. I think it's going to be the HEAD Challenge #2.</div>

I had some yarn that I bought over a year and a half ago for a blanket for her. I decided to finally make the blanket.<br />
<br />
I went through a book that was given to me, "The Crochet Stitch Bible" and found a pattern that I liked. I crocheted the first two skein, then found a mistake in the first skein, which I was going to leave, but the more I thought about it the more it bugged me. So about ¾ of the work came out and I continued on.<br />
<br />
Here's the first two skeins:<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hrEg2AQZWtM/Vy92gYFg_SI/AAAAAAAAI84/E5XEmaFDbts4nxmA_AcsPoXf2WXURuNYgCKgB/s1600/Mels%2BBlanket%2B01.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hrEg2AQZWtM/Vy92gYFg_SI/AAAAAAAAI84/E5XEmaFDbts4nxmA_AcsPoXf2WXURuNYgCKgB/s320/Mels%2BBlanket%2B01.jpg" width="155" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">April 20, 2016 - 12:20 am</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
The rest of this will be predominantly pictures.<br />
Four Skeins<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilxzgn2obReF50_jOplq_5q6zLnC25HTSUpQhPGqpYFfm4Dgj6UZOdBBwUdnYspalSov1WLuLPZV_a_E1QqD-YipQ35nzBoHcqGcA2wCfiij2XH4aNOnR8sCvPB3-6t8sZ4vXmDR3CFXek/s1600/Mels+Blanket+02.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilxzgn2obReF50_jOplq_5q6zLnC25HTSUpQhPGqpYFfm4Dgj6UZOdBBwUdnYspalSov1WLuLPZV_a_E1QqD-YipQ35nzBoHcqGcA2wCfiij2XH4aNOnR8sCvPB3-6t8sZ4vXmDR3CFXek/s320/Mels+Blanket+02.jpg" width="264" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">April 21, 2016 - 11:05 pm</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Six Skeins:<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wXq_Y3lnmmA/Vy92gX0YZWI/AAAAAAAAI84/gzjwvdWU-1cIlQXA6k3ZP40HLJca52tCgCKgB/s1600/Mels%2BBlanket%2B03.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="274" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wXq_Y3lnmmA/Vy92gX0YZWI/AAAAAAAAI84/gzjwvdWU-1cIlQXA6k3ZP40HLJca52tCgCKgB/s320/Mels%2BBlanket%2B03.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">April 25, 2016 - 11:36 am</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Almost eight skeins, I didn't have enough to do another row, you can see what's remaining on the left hand side, getting ready for the border:<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2EIwGHj1afU/Vy92gutnpAI/AAAAAAAAI84/ykbHYzAVEOYbR3o0D75irOCQXbpwA9-pgCKgB/s1600/Mels%2BBlanket%2B04.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2EIwGHj1afU/Vy92gutnpAI/AAAAAAAAI84/ykbHYzAVEOYbR3o0D75irOCQXbpwA9-pgCKgB/s320/Mels%2BBlanket%2B04.jpg" width="319" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">April 25, 2016 - 5:11 pm</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Finally complete:<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-410niKxh-IE/Vy92g3V6bgI/AAAAAAAAI84/HFaeMwln7t0sNLeuIflQCSeRnu_5cSaDQCKgB/s1600/Mels%2BBlanket%2B05.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-410niKxh-IE/Vy92g3V6bgI/AAAAAAAAI84/HFaeMwln7t0sNLeuIflQCSeRnu_5cSaDQCKgB/s320/Mels%2BBlanket%2B05.jpg" width="267" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">April 25, 2016 - 8:38 am</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I made up the border based on the rest of the pattern. I will say borders are still my weakest part. I appear to not space my stitches very well, they never lay flat, but blankets rarely lay flat, so most people won't notice. The overall size ended up being 4.5' x 6' (1.37m x 1.82m).<br />

My sister's birthday was on the 28th, so I was very proud of myself getting it done on time. She has informed me that it is very warm. Too bad summer is just around the corner, but there's still a little bit of time to use it before it gets too warm at night.Dylimeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03972706726542415581noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4159930323405591562.post-83698333020697527122016-02-27T23:42:00.000-08:002016-02-27T23:42:32.001-08:00Ophelia: Tenth Post - Pages 5 & 6After quite a bit of a break, Ophelia is finally making an appearance.<br />

These are the last two pages of the first row! I stitched them together because the last page in each row are only 13 stitches wide.<br />

First, the color that just seemed to take forever... well it <i>was</i> over 60% of the stitches on these two pages.<br />

<br />
And, the money shot:<br />

You can see how wide she's going to be. I'm hoping to get through the next two pages and finally have two complete rows. I'm more than likely going to stick with her through the next two pages, I might work on something in the middle of it if I get bored of purple, but I'm shooting for the end of next month to get them finished.</div>

It was finished in September of 2013. I'm almost positive I framed it not too long after that. However, I just recently hung it on my wall. It was sitting wrapped up because I wasn't sure where I was going to put it. It actually replaced a different picture, and the other picture found a new home. I know it's Christmas, but I just don't want it to be hidden for ¾ of the year.<br />

Let's try a post a day the rest of the month, all two days! I'm going crazy here!<br />
<br />
Okay, I got a little crazy on this post, sorry. ;D I knew I was going to which is why it took me so long to blog about it.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rIchms8vyYY/Vqv0zNrngvI/AAAAAAAAIzA/sRxybYw53wc/s1600/Mini%2BArtists%2BGalleries%2B-%2BLeonardo%2BDa%2BVinci.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="140" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rIchms8vyYY/Vqv0zNrngvI/AAAAAAAAIzA/sRxybYw53wc/s200/Mini%2BArtists%2BGalleries%2B-%2BLeonardo%2BDa%2BVinci.jpg" width="200" /></a>This was a piece I found on <a href="http://cloudsfactory.net/">CloudsFactory</a>'s website. My sister loves Leonardo Da Vinci and I found this fun little piece. I showed it to her to make sure she'd like it, since it is kind of cartoony. Of course between the two of us we had to mess around with it a little bit. To the right is the original design. My sister though it might look nice with the wording surrounded by Leonardo and his works. So it took a bit of playing around, but I finally came up with something that I thought looked good. But I won't show it to you now, you'll either have to read to the end, or scroll down to the end.<br />
<br />
I decided to use one of my favorite fabrics for this 28ct. <a href="http://www.picturethisplus.com/store/proddetail.php?prod=Legacy">Legacy</a> Cashel Linen by <a href="https://www.picturethisplus.com/">Picture this Plus</a>, since, again, it's a parchment like color.<br />
<br />
First off, was the wording. I was actually driving home from work, ready to stitch this as soon as I got home, when I came up with an idea. Leonardo was famous for trying to keep his works secret, one way that he attempted to do so was by writing mirrored. I found a little information about that <a href="http://legacy.mos.org/sln/Leonardo/LeonardoRighttoLeft.html">here</a> if you're interested. So I thought it would be cool to stitch the writing backwards. However, it was a big leap so I consulted my sister to find out her thoughts and she thought it was a great idea, so I did it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZTS0NZtLUZjG57ISFWlwxjuzSH4dL7KZniSy81H0qKs_JxEjMpzFh89CmvSIhFw73lEaESvZ5UcsxTqjxzi3Hp-torxBA6EQGoVDyl-LKJd6OEK92zvsOhlOYFBnBFl65PkjjDUiL8EZa/s1600/Leonardo+01.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="78" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZTS0NZtLUZjG57ISFWlwxjuzSH4dL7KZniSy81H0qKs_JxEjMpzFh89CmvSIhFw73lEaESvZ5UcsxTqjxzi3Hp-torxBA6EQGoVDyl-LKJd6OEK92zvsOhlOYFBnBFl65PkjjDUiL8EZa/s320/Leonardo+01.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Here is it mirrored, or unmirrored, so you can read it:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8xvrP7RwjokNkcykRKExC08AA31fouEtY4DsGiETOSNqvAOTvyfNrwOUY9WfV296obadaisJWfUesf5pg-xK9mR27ZyUscMH5_AylICUnMVfifWy7jDfKAyzz1RMbTgB4anXgRioRVRDV/s1600/Leonardo+02.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="78" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8xvrP7RwjokNkcykRKExC08AA31fouEtY4DsGiETOSNqvAOTvyfNrwOUY9WfV296obadaisJWfUesf5pg-xK9mR27ZyUscMH5_AylICUnMVfifWy7jDfKAyzz1RMbTgB4anXgRioRVRDV/s320/Leonardo+02.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The next thing I stitched was Leonardo himself.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xRUamavjwPo/Vqv0dCXytgI/AAAAAAAAIxI/Vanrfa6LhnU/s1600/Leonardo%2B03.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xRUamavjwPo/Vqv0dCXytgI/AAAAAAAAIxI/Vanrfa6LhnU/s1600/Leonardo%2B03.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
First off I did the three sketches at the same time, which were surprisingly close in color to the fabric I chose. The titles are links that lead to webpages about the images.<br />

I did change the color on the frames for these. It was supposed to be the golden yellow that you can see in the clothing of the fourth figure from the right in The Last Supper. I changed it to Kreinik #4 braid, Vintage Gold.<br />
<br />
And finally, all together:<br />

It's now in the process of being framed, so hopefully I'll get that posted faster than some of my other pictures.<br />

Between Christmas and my nephew's birthday, I had two cakes to make, one for his family birthday on Christmas Eve and the other with his friends last weekend, I've been rather busy.<br />
<br />
But I have been stitching too. I finished a piece for my sister that is in the process of being framed, I need to blog about that one. I'm almost done with one for my mother, I just have to do back stitching, belch. I did another challenge from the HAED FB page, so that was another start... oops. ;D<br />
<br />
Anyway, the real purpose of this post is to show Dragon Game framed, and here it is:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYiJh510wvh2288t4fa-4C1cvpzhi2SNBeB7PGXBmQ8svVdJtoiGGEXdmnZoEmRsxOoS5gFxLLcXNB4fx71dO6OSociEFMyYKbKOIjqjZ1s-x0gacQLUnjJ6X96TtME7LxnsaJ4HJ4Zkgi/s1600/Dragon+Game+07.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="383" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYiJh510wvh2288t4fa-4C1cvpzhi2SNBeB7PGXBmQ8svVdJtoiGGEXdmnZoEmRsxOoS5gFxLLcXNB4fx71dO6OSociEFMyYKbKOIjqjZ1s-x0gacQLUnjJ6X96TtME7LxnsaJ4HJ4Zkgi/s400/Dragon+Game+07.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
I'd forgotten to mention that I'd altered it very slightly. On the left hand side there was a leash of sorts coming out from behind his wing. Without it being attached to anything else it looked odd, so I left it out.<br />
<br />
Now I'm going to work on a few more posts that I really need to do. Framed pieces that have been framed for over a year, Items I've started and quite a few I also finished but was too interested in moving on to the next thing instead of posting... I'm such a bad blogger. I'll catch up eventually.Dylimeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03972706726542415581noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4159930323405591562.post-19938701004588448832015-11-27T22:55:00.000-08:002015-11-27T22:58:10.711-08:00Storykeep - Magical Arrival: The Seventh PostI mentioned last month I had been working on some pieces that were long over due to be finished. I mentioned that Storykeep Magical Arrival was one of those. On top of that, Michele Sayetta who creates the HAED charts, challenged us to do 100 stitches a week over four weeks, October 28th to November 28th, which really, is not much. I entered Magical Arrival as my challenge piece.<br />
<br />
Here he is before (left) and after (right)<br />

And what should have been quick and easy wasn't since I started working on something else and got sidetracked. But I did exceed the 400 stitches with 1144. They were mostly in the stocking and wall.<br />
<br />
I'm not sure what happened, but it looks like something was spilled on it, it's mostly not noticeable, but I'll wash it after I'm done and see how it looks, there's a few sections that I might restitch, but it's mostly okay.<br />

Here's another random finish on something I haven't posted on in a while. October 30th of last year to be exact. Not as long ago as Dragon Game, but close enough.<br />
<br />
I never added this to the WIP page because all I had left was back stitching and I figured I'd get that done quickly. However, I had a large aversion to back stitching, I guess, and just never finished it up. At least until today, or last night, depending on how you look at things.<br />
<br />
I had the first dragon done shortly after my last post. Today (Yesterday) I did the other three.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
And finally a very small project that should have taken less than a week is done in a little over a year.<br />
<br />
And now it's time for bed. Good Night!<br />

The last time I blogged about this was over two years ago. Wow, time flies.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It was stitching along quickly and then I started working on a dark brown color. It wasn't until after I'd finished the color that I realized I used 3371 instead of 3031. I thought I'd be able to just leave it and go on my way. However the color was way too different. So I had to frog all the stitches, 328 stitches. Now the problem was I had also stitched the black, and it was very difficult to tell the difference between 310 and 3371. I picked it back up about 10 days ago determined to get it back on track.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
After I finished frogging and restitching I was happy that I had decided to redo it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-M-AUDWR2uKc/Vh_9HOcjtjI/AAAAAAAAIfA/YVcu-l0bzV0/s1600/Dragon%2BGame%2B03.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="303" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-M-AUDWR2uKc/Vh_9HOcjtjI/AAAAAAAAIfA/YVcu-l0bzV0/s320/Dragon%2BGame%2B03.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And since it was small, I kept going...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The next long abandoned project is SK Magical Arrival. I lost my progress on my chart back when my hard drive crashed. I have no idea which colors I've stitched and which I have not. I need to work it through and figure it out so I can finish him up. According to my last post he's over 78% complete and I'd stitched a bit more after that post.Dylimeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03972706726542415581noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4159930323405591562.post-49711941488854101722015-09-26T00:34:00.001-07:002015-09-26T00:34:52.681-07:00 Laraine's Pink Orchid PinI tend to stay away from talking about personal matters, but this one I'm going to mention.<br />
<br />
My sister's mother-in-law was just recently diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer. Every year there's a breast cancer walk in Fashion Island in Newport Beach, California, and my sister has put together a team. Somehow I was able to get the day off and will be able to run & participate.<br />
<br />
For anyone who's interested here's the website: <a href="http://www.komenoc.org/faf/home/default.asp?ievent=1137555">2015 Komen Orange County Race for the Cure</a>. I know this is something that affects most if not all of my followers.<br />
<br />
Now my reason for posting. I decided to make an orchid french beaded flower for her in the classic breast cancer pinks. She loves orchids and I did make her a previous orchid, a moth orchid, which can be seen in one of my earliest posts <a href="http://dylimes.blogspot.com/2012/03/flowers-and-beads.html">here</a>.<br />
<br />
I started on it Wednesday night and put all the beads onto the wire. Here's an in progress photo I took as I was putting the beads on the wire.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjL66E7G7sriSO2uIWDkLplJDt8R-olRWjkDvFfS62FJ_N9DLg4m6524iAYcfIXFfly3JUCTJ7s8l73G1kQC62kpzs3Ui0Hv-aV3Hcp1Wa4uCVlBisGgAtuVps2GpImRWDpuM9tMkvCzWGt/s1600/Laraine%2527s+Pink+Orchid+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="241" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjL66E7G7sriSO2uIWDkLplJDt8R-olRWjkDvFfS62FJ_N9DLg4m6524iAYcfIXFfly3JUCTJ7s8l73G1kQC62kpzs3Ui0Hv-aV3Hcp1Wa4uCVlBisGgAtuVps2GpImRWDpuM9tMkvCzWGt/s320/Laraine%2527s+Pink+Orchid+1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
That's pretty much everything I need, the beads, the wire, some wire cutters, scissors and hemostats, and the iPad, it has the pattern on it.<br />
<br />
I went to my parent's house today to help with the race packets and finished up the flower there. Here are the five large petals.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-1HibkBW_tkmOqzl7_jKNTLpIyt5XC6Mg6R-yXLgRqhkwFii7DwEeYp0fMmQGM9IHhz7mV7sQtFiOHLLOujTzMAkLNQyapgHv_ZwDCEyT-exmOR1JwbPHZuazxkv51PydK0vq4kLACjhV/s1600/Laraine%2527s+Pink+Orchid+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="244" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-1HibkBW_tkmOqzl7_jKNTLpIyt5XC6Mg6R-yXLgRqhkwFii7DwEeYp0fMmQGM9IHhz7mV7sQtFiOHLLOujTzMAkLNQyapgHv_ZwDCEyT-exmOR1JwbPHZuazxkv51PydK0vq4kLACjhV/s320/Laraine%2527s+Pink+Orchid+2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Apparently at this point my mother was wondering how it was going to possibly look good. I think she used the adjective hideous when she was recounting her thoughts before I started assembly.<br />
<br />
I forgot to take another picture with all the parts, so here it is done. I took two pictures, one on white so you could see the pinks better, the other on burgandy so you could see the flower better.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
It looks better in real life, I think I need to get my sister take a good picture. I glued it into a boutineer (I'm not sure this is spelled correctly) holder I purchased at work.<br />

I did a small project, which I need to post about. A gift for a family friend, so Ophelia took a little bit longer to finish than I thought.<br />
<br />
So this time I was finally able to keep myself on track and finished all the darkest colors on the left hand side of the two pages.<br />

I found her lips. Good. Without them I could only think of Pac Man when I looked at her mouth, and she seemed a bit deformed. Now she's looking much better. Her eyelids are also starting to take shape.<br />

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ds63vmqRgIo/Vf-C8Q9Y3VI/AAAAAAAAIJE/rP8Y8zsiDJw/s1600/Ophelia%2B025%2BPg%2B09%252B10-5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="189" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ds63vmqRgIo/Vf-C8Q9Y3VI/AAAAAAAAIJE/rP8Y8zsiDJw/s320/Ophelia%2B025%2BPg%2B09%252B10-5.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I think it was around this point that I started doing colors from the least stitches to the most.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-p0Ke2d0Eh1E/Vf-C8efPoSI/AAAAAAAAIJI/qRHK1gPIQTI/s1600/Ophelia%2B026%2BPg%2B09%252B10-6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="195" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-p0Ke2d0Eh1E/Vf-C8efPoSI/AAAAAAAAIJI/qRHK1gPIQTI/s320/Ophelia%2B026%2BPg%2B09%252B10-6.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And one color left to stitch:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWUUN41AfZz5pZ5BrzP1uuOnZNpcm_n8HTwnDjln3xwdO217TkwT-qVPPorKbo5YnVWcS659D-IURWMftGeq0koFnLdSd5amcH51AcAmXKnggy42SQf_5JwqLQR0vGQR60AavDYPDA0zAQ/s1600/Ophelia+027+Pg+09%252B10-7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="183" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWUUN41AfZz5pZ5BrzP1uuOnZNpcm_n8HTwnDjln3xwdO217TkwT-qVPPorKbo5YnVWcS659D-IURWMftGeq0koFnLdSd5amcH51AcAmXKnggy42SQf_5JwqLQR0vGQR60AavDYPDA0zAQ/s320/Ophelia+027+Pg+09%252B10-7.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
That last color is finally in!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjf_0cxB10d9jJsmv2ThXA0-yJLJVKGYWHlu3a8YQap-XeBiIfQoRkuGI8rwioVIVDvtn2UvvDzVhqzfZiKiTPTbbirvBxySaMaengjYkrsfZmkCEM8wygXIyAAiqxCBfVXoa8aEYmrgtri/s1600/Ophelia+028+Pg+09%252B10-8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="185" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjf_0cxB10d9jJsmv2ThXA0-yJLJVKGYWHlu3a8YQap-XeBiIfQoRkuGI8rwioVIVDvtn2UvvDzVhqzfZiKiTPTbbirvBxySaMaengjYkrsfZmkCEM8wygXIyAAiqxCBfVXoa8aEYmrgtri/s320/Ophelia+028+Pg+09%252B10-8.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Finally, here she is looking quite beautiful:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggPQF6fTbR4lzCWfZKqiAbjn4FOVcCkipKp2XSyt20EmlEa0PKb8DwZUyQo0qTWfd7cCbDbw8WCII4Qq-BpRQDCj985NaWLXa0L-B-04htzfu9-EYsEJ8Rx-Pn-0-lpAAyhRCUPKL7WI6J/s1600/Ophelia+029+Pg+09%252B10-9.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="252" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggPQF6fTbR4lzCWfZKqiAbjn4FOVcCkipKp2XSyt20EmlEa0PKb8DwZUyQo0qTWfd7cCbDbw8WCII4Qq-BpRQDCj985NaWLXa0L-B-04htzfu9-EYsEJ8Rx-Pn-0-lpAAyhRCUPKL7WI6J/s400/Ophelia+029+Pg+09%252B10-9.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I was afraid that after doing her face the rest would be rather anti-climatic. But I'm actually finding I can't wait to see how well her clothing turns out after seeing how well she's looking so far.<br />

I really should put her down and start working on Christmas gifts. We'll see what I actually end up doing.Dylimeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03972706726542415581noreply@blogger.com6
